Stolo is an encrypted mesh communications app made by Stolo Systems Inc. (“Stolo,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains, in plain language, what information we handle when you use the Stolo app and this website — and, just as important, what we never handle.
Stolo is designed so that we cannot read your messages or see your location. That is how the system is built, not just a promise we make.
What we collect, and why
- Device and installation identifiers, and license state. When you activate a subscription seat, our activation service records an installation identifier and the state of your license — which seat is active on which device, and until when. We use this to activate subscriptions and manage seats.
- Purchase and billing information. Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Stripe (web checkout). We receive what we need to license your purchase, such as subscription status. We never see your full payment card details.
- Email address, if you choose to provide one for billing or support.
That is the complete list.
What we never collect
- Message content. Messages are end-to-end encrypted from device to device. Message content never reaches our servers and cannot be read by us. Where packets travel through our relay gateway, the gateway forwards encrypted packets it cannot decrypt, and it does not store message content.
- Location. GPS positions are shared peer-to-peer with your own team only. They are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
We use no analytics SDKs, no advertising, and no tracking, and we do not sell personal information. This website contains no analytics, tracking scripts, or third-party embeds.
Third parties we rely on
We use a small number of infrastructure providers, each of which processes data only to provide its service:
- Apple — processes purchases and subscription billing for the App Store channel.
- Stripe — processes payments for the web checkout channel. On both channels, we never see full payment card details.
- Cloudflare — provides the network infrastructure that serves this website and our license activation service. Like any network provider, it processes technical connection data (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the service.
None of these providers receives message content or location data from us — we never have it to give.
Retention
We keep license records for the life of the subscription. If you ask us to delete your information, we will delete what we are not required to keep.
Your rights and choices
You can ask us at any time to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you — device and installation identifiers, license state, and any email address you have given us. Write to support@stolo.io and we will respond to reasonable requests regardless of where you live. Note that deleting license records deactivates the associated seats.
Children
Stolo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the effective date at the top of this page.
